Sainte-Marguerite Island: the largest island in the archipelago

It is the big sister of the Lerins archipelago.

The island of Sainte-Marguerite stretches over 3 kilometres of preserved nature. With its 22 kilometres of botanical paths lined with Aleppo pines, eucalyptus and other holm oaks, this main island in the Bay of Cannes seduces all visitors. Alternating between heavenly coves, the ornithological reserve of the Etang du Batéguier and the state-owned forest, Sainte-Marguerite Island is a dream destination to recharge your batteries in peace and quiet in the Mediterranean.

And that's not all: for lovers of history with a capital H, Sainte-Marguerite Island is full of surprises.

During your stroll on the island, you can, for example, visit the Fort Royal. This state prison was notably home to the famous Man in the Iron Mask. Today, the fort houses the Iron Mask and Royal Fort Museum, which is none other than a museum of underwater and land archaeology. A real asset to complete your discovery trip in the bay of Cannes!

St Honorat Island: the small historical island

Little sister of the Lérins archipelago, St Honorat Island boasts a length of 1500 m and a width of 400 m.

His small size does not detract from the exceptional character of this Mediterranean island. Wilder than the island of Sainte-Marguerite, the island of Saint-Honorat has pleasant paths to walk through scrubland, palm trees, olive trees, cypresses and vines. Surprising and intriguing, the island of Saint-Honorat is a quiet place that makes all visitors who visit it feel optimal tranquillity and serenity.

Particularly known for the abbey of the monks of Lérins founded in the 5th century, this island off Cannes is a real historical gem.

Classified as a historic monument of France, the abbey is still inhabited today by some 30 Cistercian monks who look after an 8 hectare vineyard. They produce wine and liqueurs made from plants, fruit and olive oil. So, while visiting the island, enjoy the tranquillity of one of the chapels that once welcomed pilgrims and taste the famous Lerina liqueur prepared by the island's Cistercian monks.

Saint-Honorat Island is therefore a small island full of charm that is definitely not to be missed when you visit Cannes or the surrounding towns. The preserved environment makes it an invaluable haven of well-being to fully recharge your batteries as soon as the fine weather arrives.

And to make the most of the island and its idyllic views, there's nothing like scheduling a motorboat trip! Different anchorages are possible around the island near the beaches and creeks to be able to bask in this heavenly place. Crique Saint Pierre, Creeque Saint Michel, plage de l'Abbaye, plage du port...choose the anchorage that suits you among the more or less intimate options offered by Saint-Honorat Island.

Each anchorage area is regulated and marked out to preserve as much as possible the fauna and flora of this privileged place on the French Riviera.
